There’s Something You Need to Know About the Haunted Mansion Re-Opening Date

After being closed for more than six months, we’ve finally got a re-opening date for The Haunted Mansion at Disneyland.

And with the Halloween Time season starting earlier than ever, this announcement was long overdue!

In case you missed it, Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion attraction has been closed since January 22, 2024 for an extensive queue refurbishment and new gift shop. The ride has been sorely missed this year but the overhaul was sorely needed. Lines for Haunted Mansion often extend out into New Orleans Square, wrapping around the planter area and baking up against Tiana’s Palace.

We’ve speculated for many months now that Haunted Mansion may not open in 2024, at least not as the classic attraction. With fall fast approaching it seemed more and more likely that what we would get is Haunted Mansion Holiday.

The seasonal overlay usually takes over the ride from September to January, but with yesterday’s announcement that Halloween Time will be starting on August 23rd – it seems this tricky treat may be opening earlier than expected.

As Jack and his friends take over the halls of the Haunted Mansion, this beloved makeover officially marks the start of spooky season. I am so glad to see that it won’t be missed this year.

The Halloween season runs at Disneyland Resort from August 23, 2024 to October 31, 2024. There is a LOT to see and do at Disneyland during Halloween, so no matter when you visit you’re bound to have a good time. Unfortunately though, an official re-opening date hasn’t yet been announced.

Virtual Queue

What we do know is that construction isn’t complete! And with no physical queue available, Haunted Mansion will be accessible through virtual queue only.

Guests will need to secure a boarding time for the virtual queue through the Disneyland app. Specific details for the Haunted Mansion Holiday Virtual Queue have not been shared. Generally, virtual queue for attractions becomes available at 7:00 am and again at 1:00 pm for guests who are present inside the park. We’ll have to wait to wait and see if any changes are announced.

We’ll share the information here as soon as it becomes available, as well as the best strategies and tips to make sure you get a chance to ride. Tiana’s Bayou is expected to open before the end of the year, and will likely utilize the Virtual Queue system as well.
