5 Best Underrated Experiences at Magic Kingdom

The Magic Kingdom is the first and most iconic park in Disney World. It’s what most people picture when they think of Disney, that or Disneyland. How could you not? It’s filled with princesses and pirates and parades and all those wonderful things that make a vacation truly Disney.

You’ve no doubt heard about some of the most popular rides and attractions in the park (if not, you can read about them here). But not every ride is filled with twists, turns, and surprises – and that’s okay! They’re still just as great.

In fact, some of these underrated attractions are favorites for many fans. We love these because the lines are short, the rides are fun, and they can easily fill in gaps between FastPasses to help get the most out of your day. Here’s our list of the 5 Best Underrated Attractions at the Magic Kingdom

CAROUSEL of Progress

Located in Tomorrowland, the Carousel of Progress is a classic attraction intended to give you a glimpse at what the future has in store. Except, the future you’re exploring has pretty much already taken place. The ride opened in 1975 and has seen few renovations since. Because of this fact, along with the slower pace of the ride compared to the nearby E-Ticket attractions, there is rarely a line.

It’s certainly no Space Mountain, but it’s a great piece of Disney World history. While this has become somewhat of a favorite with long time fans, Disney is always changing things and there has been rumors in the past about this attraction being closed. So, you will definitely want to check this one out while you have the opportunity to do so.

Enchanted Tiki Room

Over in Adventureland you can take a trip to the Tiki Room. Another historical piece of Disney, the Tiki Room is a great place to escape the Florida heat. You’ll be seated in an (air conditioned) room, filled with animatronic birds. Through the course of the show the birds come to life, sing, dance, and make jokes.

It’s a fun way to experience what animatronics were at the dawn of Disney. Afterwards be sure to stop and grab an obligatory Dole Whip around the corner at Aloha Isle.

Journey of the Little Mermaid

From some of the first animatronics at Disney to some of the latest. Journey of the Little Merimaid is a dark ride that takes you through the classic Disney original movie. The ride is spectacularly immersive, and filled with astounding animatronics that honestly look better than the movie’s animation!

Like the rest of this list, there is rarely a line for this attraction – in large part due to the consistently moving track. The system is similar to that used in the Haunted Mansion and allows a high capacity of guests per hour. Unfortunately, this ride is also often overlooked in favor of the nearby Seven Dwarves Mine Train.

People Mover

You simply cannot visit the Magic Kingdom and not ride the People Mover! It’s one of the few remaining original attractions! This ride is actually a duplicate of the attraction that first opened in Disneyland. Unfortunately, the Disneyland version shut down many years ago due to maintenance issues. So, this is your only chance to catch a ride!

It is a slow moving ride, which means many guests don’t opt to give it a shot. There is never a line for this one, and it’s an easy time filler between some of the more popular attractions.

COUNTRY Bear Jamboree

Another sadly underrated attraction at the Magic Kingdom is the Country Bear Jamboree. Like the People Mover, this attraction first opened in Disneyland but has since been closed. Filled with classic animatronic characters and songs, this show spectacular certainly deserves a stop!
