Entertainment at the Oogie Boogie Bash

There are a variety of shows, parades, and spectacles to experience at the Oogie Boogie Bash. Let’s dive into the ghostly delights that await!

Frightfully Fun Parade

Frightfully Fun Parade float featuring Halloween-themed decorations at Oogie Boogie Bash, illuminated by colorful lights and surrounded by excited spectators.

The Frightfully Fun Parade is a nighttime spectacle featuring an array of spooky spirits from the deepest bayous of New Orleans to Halloween Town and beyond. The parade starts with the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow setting the mood as he arrives on his ghostly black steed, carrying a flickering jack-o-lantern as a warning to everyone along the parade route.

Next comes The Nightmare Before Christmas Unit, where Zero leads the way, with the Mayor of Halloween Town announcing the arrival of Jack Skellington the Pumpkin King and Sally. Then, you’ll encounter The Haunted Mansion Unit, where grim, grinning ghosts come out to socialize with swirling ballroom dancers, ominous gravediggers, and a trio of hitchhiking ghosts.

Dr. Facilier performing in the Frightfully Fun Parade at Oogie Boogie Bash, surrounded by vibrant neon lights and spooky decorations.

The Dr. Facilier Unit follows, where Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog calls on mystical powers, summoning his Shadow Men from the bayou to loom large over his strange and twisted Voodoo parlor.

The parade concludes with the Finale Unit, where the sinister Disney Villains appear out of the darkness, ready to stir up some trouble. A dark, dungeon-like lair takes over the parade route, bringing with it a wicked gathering of villainy, including Maleficent in her dragon form, Hades, Lady Tremaine, Anastasia, Drizella, The Evil Queen, Jafar, Frollo, and Cruella De Vil.

Mickey’s Trick & Treat Show

Mickey’s Trick & Treat Show is a fun-filled, interactive stage show featuring Disney characters in Halloween costumes. Perfect for little ones, the show includes dancing, spooky stories, and candy, and stars familiar faces such as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Goofy.

Villains Grove

The Scar section of Villains Grove at Oogie Boogie Bash, featuring eerie green lighting and shadowy projections of the character.

Villains Grove is an immersive and interactive trail experience that transforms Redwood Creek Challenge Trail into a unique, villain-inspired dreamscape. Think of it like Disney‘s version of a haunted house. Themes, color schemes, and soundtracks from memorable movie villains are all there – but no villains (or jump scares).

It’s a beautiful walkthrough attraction, filled with spectacular special lighting effects.

Character Meet and Greets

If a chance encounter with your favorite Disney character gives you more goosebumps than a haunted house, then you’re in for a treat—no tricks involved! At the Oogie Boogie Bash, there are several opportunities to meet and greet with a variety of Disney characters. And we’re not just talking about your everyday Mickey and Minnie (though they’ll be there too). We’re talking about some seriously rare appearances and bewitchingly unique costumes that you won’t want to miss.

The Sanderson Sisters (aka Daisy, Clarabelle, & Minnie Mouse) from Hocus Pocus:

Head on over to Hollywood Land, where our favorite Disney ladies have taken a page out of the Sanderson Sisters’ spell book. Be warned, they may put a spell on you with their charm!

Bruno from Encanto greeting guests during the Oogie Boogie Bash event, with an elaborate set design inspired by the film.

Bruno from Encanto: Don’t worry, we’re not afraid to talk about Bruno. In fact, you can meet him in person at Grizzly Peak. Just remember not to ask about any visions!

King Mickey and Donald Duck from Kingdom Hearts: Ever wanted to venture into the world of Kingdom Hearts? Here’s your chance. Find King Mickey and Donald Duck at Paradise Gardens Park, ready to embark on a new adventure.

Rare Characters at Carthay Circle: If you’re a die-hard Disney fan, then Carthay Circle is the place to be. You never know which rare characters might make an appearance. Last year I nearly ran into the evil queen from Snow White, walking over to grab a parade spot.

Marvel Super Heroes at Avengers Campus: Super heroes need Halloween fun too! Swing by the Avengers Campus to catch your favorite Marvel heroes. Just be careful not to get caught in any web-slinging action.

Lotso from Toy Story 3 greeting guests during the Oogie Boogie Bash event, with the character's playful and colorful surroundings.

Pixar Pals at Pixar Pier: If Pixar characters make you as giddy as a kid in a candy store, then Pixar Pier is the place for you. Come see your favorite Pixar pals in all their animated glory.

Radiator Springs Residents at Cars Land: If you’ve ever wanted to take a road trip with Lightning McQueen and Mater, now’s your chance. Visit Cars Land to meet the residents of Radiator Springs – in their Halloween best!

Now, meeting these characters is a blast, but to make the most of these experiences, make sure to check the schedule as soon as you arrive at the park. Times can vary and you don’t want to miss out. Remember, some characters are more popular than others, so lines can get long. However, with a little bit of planning, you can make sure to meet all your favorite characters. And don’t forget to bring your camera – these are moments you’ll want to remember!

Treat Trails

No Halloween party would be complete without the quintessential Trick or Treat experience. But we’re not talking about your average neighborhood candy spree. At the Oogie Boogie Bash, you’ll embark on a journey through enchanted Treat Trails where you’ll not only score some delicious goodies, but you’ll also encounter some devilishly delightful Disney villains!

Oogie Boogie at the Animation Building. Who better to start with than the host of our spooktacular bash? Make your way to the Animation Building where you’ll find Oogie Boogie himself. Just keep your fingers crossed that he doesn’t pull any tricks!

Live action Cruella de Vil striking a pose in the Trick or Treat Trail at Oogie Boogie Bash, with a dramatic stage and colorful lighting.

Cruella at Stage 17: If you’re a fan of high fashion and mischievous plots, you won’t want to miss Cruella at Stage 17. Let’s just hope she leaves those poor Dalmatians at home!

Judge Doom from 'Roger Rabbit' greeting guests in the Trick or Treat Trail at Oogie Boogie Bash, surrounded by colorful and spooky decorations.

Judge Doom by Soarin’: Straight from a starring role in my childhood nightmares – Judge Doom (of Roger Rabbit fame/horror) is just around the corner from the Soarin’ exit. Divulging his plan, of course, in typical villain fashion.

Madame Mim performing in the Trick or Treat Trail at Oogie Boogie Bash, with a spooky and colorful backdrop highlighting her mischievous character.

Madam Mim in the performance corridor: If you’re not afraid of a little magic (and a lot of mischief), pay a visit to Madam Mim. Just be sure to watch out for her transformations!

Mother Gothel from Tangled interacting with guests in the Trick or Treat Trail at Oogie Boogie Bash, surrounded by vibrant flowers and eerie lighting.

Mother Gothel by Grizzly River Run: A trip to Grizzly River Run will lead you to the enchanting Mother Gothel. Don’t worry, she promises not to keep you locked in a tower.

Ernesto de la Cruz singing and playing his guitar on stage in the Treat or Treat Trails at Oogie Boogie Bash, illuminated by dramatic lighting.

Ernesto De La Cruz by the Hyperion Theater Last, but certainly not least, you’ll find the legendary Ernesto De La Cruz greeting guests near the entrance of Avengers Campus. No bones about it, this is one meet and greet you don’t want to miss!

Sid from Toy Story interacting with guests in the Trick or Treat Trail at Oogie Boogie Bash, surrounded by vibrant circus-themed decorations.

Sid on Pixar Pier: Located near Toy Story Midway Mania you can meet and greet with one of the biggest bullies around – Toy Story’s Sid. But be warned! The character interacts with the crow – mocking, making fun, and just being a bully. All in good fun!

Agatha Harkness from WandaVision casting a spell in the Trick or Treat Trail at Oogie Boogie Bash, with a spooky and magical backdrop.

Agatha in Avenger’s Campus – Just across from WebSlingers is the real villain behind WandaVision – it was Agatha all along! Like several other characters, Agatha has been known to share her opinions of trick-or-treaters who deem to grace her presence. But this line usually has grapes, apple slices, or baby carrots. Which makes it worth the heckling.

Just remember, these are Treat Trails, so don’t forget to bring your trick or treat bag! These villains may be up to no good, but they’ve got plenty of goodies to share. So get ready to collect your candy—and some unforgettable memories—along the way!

Available Upgrades

Oogie Boogie Bash is a limited capacity, hard ticketed, event that offers 3 additional upgrades. We’re yet to experience any of these add-ons because they’re just not necessary. Each of these options guarantees preferred viewing of the parade.

But parade seating is truly not that competitive. It runs from the very back of Paradise Gardens Park all the way to Avenger’s campus – plenty of opportunity for everyone to watch.

Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party

For those who want to add an extra layer of sweetness to their Halloween adventures, the Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party offers even more treats, and a guarantee viewing spot for the Frightfully Fun parade. Tickets are $89 per person and provide an endless supply of sweet treats including:

  • Chocolate Topped Stuffed Vanilla Cake
  • Cookies & Cream Tart
  • Salted Caramel Macaron
  • Gummy Candies
  • Chocolate Marshmallow Crispy with White Chocolate Drizzle
  • Patchwork Sugar Cookie
  • Mini Cheesecake with Buttercream
  • Oogie Boogie Bash Nonalcoholic Mocktail
  • Unlimited Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite and bottled water—plus coffee, tea and hot chocolate
  • For Guests ages 21 and older: Beer, Wine, Oogie Boogie Bash Specialty Cocktail

Oogie Boogie Bash Parade Dining Package

Similarly a dining package is offered at Wine Country Trattoria. Featuring a prix-fixe 3 course meal, this upgrade will set you back $69 per adult and $41 for children.

Carthay Circle Theatre transformed with spooky projections and vibrant purple lighting during Oogie Boogie Bash, creating a hauntingly beautiful scene.

It’s a much more manageable price and provides a full meal, instead of just dessert. So there’s that, but it’s still not at the top of our bucket list.

Oogie Boogie Bash VIP Tour

Newly returning in 2024 is a party exclusive VIP Tour. Pricing is not public on Disney‘s site, but reported to be more than $7,000. What does it include, you ask?

  • 8 hours across both parks with a VIP tour guide
  • Souvenir pin!
  • VIP Character Meets
  • VIP Parade Viewing
  • Priority Access to Villains Grove
  • $30 in food and Beverage credit per guest

The VIP Tour does grant you entry to Oogie Boogie Bash – even if you did not purchase a park ticket. And if you split the cost across the 8 people max per group, that’s only around $1,000 per person. Sure, that seems reasonable.

Preparing for Your Visit

Ready for a spooky adventure at this year’s Oogie Boogie Bash? Excellent! We’ve compiled a few tips to help you plan for your visit. From the nitty-gritty on dress code to helpful advice on what to bring, we’ve got you covered!

Dress Code and Costume Guidelines

Everyone’s encouraged to get into the Halloween spirit, but there are a few guidelines to keep in mind. You can absolutely wear costumes to the Oogie Boogie Bash, but they need to be family-friendly and can’t obstruct your vision or have any parts that stick out excessively or drag on the ground.

Guests of all ages are welcome to dress as a Disney Character. But you can’t sign autographs or pose for photos as if you’re the real deal.

What to Bring

Even ghosts and ghouls need to stay hydrated and energized! Be sure to bring a reusable water bottle to refill throughout the night, and maybe a few snacks to keep those hunger monsters at bay.

While there’s plenty of hauntingly delicious food at the event, having a few snacks on hand can be a lifesaver during those long lines for the trick-or-treat trails.

Top Tips for Oogie Boogie Bash

Halloween (and Christmas) at Disneyland is my favorite time and park to visit. The decorations are breathtaking, the ride overlays slay, and everything just feels more complete. Oogie Boogie Bash takes it to a new level of fun with immersive trick or treat trails and one-of-a kind character interactions.

A scene from the pre-show of Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark at Oogie Boogie Bash, with a dynamic character interaction on the screen.

But it gets busy, even as a limited capcity event. And there’s so much to do, it can be hard to know which way to look!

Arrive Early

The party may not start until 6:00pm, but you’ll be able to enter as early as 3:00pm with your ticket. Those extra 3 hours are the perfect time to experience even more of the park. These are our favorite pre-party to-do’s

  • Eat – try some yummy Halloween themed treats
  • Check out the Halloween overlay at Carsland
  • Watch the lighting of Carsland at sunset
  • Ride Monsters After Dark (usually swaps over around 4pm)
  • Meet the Fab 5 in their costumes around the park
  • Take lots of pictures
  • Mingle and check out everyone’s costumes!

Plan for the Late Parade

The Frightfully Fun Parade runs twice per night, at 9:00 pm and 11:00pm. Our advice is to skip the early showing. By 11:00pm many folks have headed home and the crowds will thin. You should be able to arrive 15-20 minutes before the parade starts to grab your spot

Interested in meeting rare characeters? Stick to the Pixar Pier area during the first parade

But, make a plan for what you want to do during the first parade. This is a great time to see Villains Grove, as many guests will be watching the show. Just make sure that you are on the entrance side of the park.

The Frightfully Fun Parade cuts the park in half, and makes it nearly impossible to crossover during or immediately afterwards. If you want to trick-or treat during this time stay on the Avenger’s Campus side.

The Value of Oogie Boogie Bash

Is the Oogie Boogie Bash worth it? Well, let’s break it down.

Like a candy corn, this question has layers. Yes, the Oogie Boogie Bash is a separately ticketed event.. But consider what you get: access to unique Halloween-themed entertainment, rare character sightings, trick-or-treat trails, and more.

Plus, you’re stepping into a Halloween wonderland with all the Disney magic sprinkled on top. For many Disney fans and Halloween enthusiasts, these special experiences are worth every penny.

Crowd Levels and Wait Times

If you’re thinking about wait times, you’re thinking smart! The Oogie Boogie Bash typically sees lower crowd levels than a regular park day, which often means shorter wait times for attractions.

And with everyone busy meeting characters and collecting candy, you might just find yourself strolling onto that ride you’ve been dying to try. However, tickets for the Bash do sell out quickly, so if you’re planning to attend, don’t wait too long to get yours!

Whether you’re a Halloween fanatic, a Disney enthusiast, or both, the Oogie Boogie Bash offers a unique and unforgettable experience. Yes, it’s an additional cost, but the magic and memories you’ll create are priceless. We all deserve a little extra fun after a year of toil and trouble, don’t we?

So, grab your broomsticks, dust off your costumes, and mark your calendars. The Oogie Boogie Bash is a Halloween extravaganza you won’t want to miss. Hope to see you there, if you dare!

Until then, happy hauntings, everyone!
