The latest offering in <keyword data-keyword-id="13394">Disney</keyword> World’s growing collection of skip the line services, Lightning Lane Premiere Pass, is now available for purchase to all guests. Premiere Pass began as an exclusive offering for guests at Deluxe <keyword data-keyword-id="13395">Disney</keyword> resorts October 30th, 2024 and later expanded to all <keyword data-keyword-id="13396">Disney</keyword> property resort guests November 11th, 2024.

Starting today, January 21, 2025, all guests visit a <keyword data-keyword-id="13397">Disney</keyword> World park are able to purchase this premium skip the line pass. But, what exactly is Premiere Pass and how much will you need to fork out?

What is Lightning Lane Premiere Pass?

Lightning Lane is the latest line hopping service offered by the parks as a way for families to minimize standby waits and maximum their time – ideally by shopping, dining, and generally spending more money if <keyword data-keyword-id="13398">Disney</keyword> has their way. There are now three different types of Lightning Lane passes that can be purchased.

Multipass is the most familiar of these chooses. It allows guests to make one purchase to access the Lightning Lane queue for most attractions within the park of their choice. They are then able to book return windows for when they’ll be able to use those Lightning Lanes and skip the standby wait. FastPass, later FastPass+, laid the foundation for this service that introduced limited pre-booking offers in addition to an upcharge usually between $15 and $25 per guest per day.

Check out our Complete Guide to Lightning Lane Multi-pass!

Next we have the SinglePass; available for select attractions at each park for an additional price. Pricing varies but typically falls $12 and $24 per attraction per person. The Lightning Lanes for these attractions are not available through Multipass. They include:

Rise of the Resistance (DHS)

Tron (MK)

Seven Dwarves Mine Train (MK)

Cosmic Rewind (Epcot)

Flight of Passage (AK)

Which brings us to the Premiere Pass with a jaw dropping price range between $119 and $429 per person per day. What, you might ask, is worth more than twice the cost of admission (which is not included)?

Guests who purchase Premiere Pass have on demand access to the Lightning Lane of each included attraction, once per day. Basically, you get to ride whatever you want whenever you want with no line. And the included attractions are everything included in Multipass and Singlepass. There are some rules, of course, namely that it can only be used in one park per day and only works on each attraction once.

Lightning Lane Premiere Pass Cost

If you too are wondering who would possibly purchase this and also what in the world to they do for work, allow me to explain that Premiere Pass has routinely sold out since the initial rollout. Personally, I’m still grappling with the $20 price tag for Multipass. I can’t even fathom shelling out $400 – for a single day. For. One. Person.

Premiere Pass Pricing for January 21, 2025

But…I can see how it could be worth the price, in a few very specific situations. Animal Kingdom, for instance, only has 6 rides in the entire park right now. Thanks to ongoing construction and an emphasis on shows and wildlife exhibits, guests can pretty easily accomplish everything in a single day. The Premiere Pass here starts at just $119, but even that would be a waste.

Magic Kingdom on the other hand is the most popular theme park in the world with more than 17 million guests visiting each year – it’s busy. The more popular attractions regularly have waits over 2 hours, and there are more of them. Space Mountain, Tron, Seven Dwarves, Peter Pan, and Tiana’s Bayou are just some of the headliners bound to show up on your wish list.

Multipass offers a huge benefit and can help make a big dent in your Magic Kingdom to-do list. But, to be able to walk up to any of the attractions whenever the mood strikes? Now that sounds magical. Premiere Pass doesn’t just help you skip the line, it gives you more time. Time before your trip that would be spent researching and planning, time in the parks that you don’t have to constantly play Lightning Lane slots, time in your schedule to book dining reservations without having to worry about return windows!

Whether all that time saved is worth the very high cost, is up to you. It is a luxury product after all, it’s meant to provide an improved experience.

Does that experience encroach on that of other guests by directly driving longer than necessary standby lines? Probably, but that’s another story for another time.

The post Disney World’s Most Expensive Add-on is Now Available for all appeared first on .

Planning a visit to Hollywood Studios? You’re probably wondering if <keyword data-keyword-id="12886">Disney</keyword>’s Lightning Lane will help you breeze past those notorious long lines.

The new system has brought a few changes, and knowing the ins and outs can mean the difference between maximizing your day or missing out on top attractions.

Here’s everything you need to know about using Lightning Lane at Hollywood Studios, from which rides book up fast to the strategies that will help you make the most of your day.

What is Lightning Lane?

Lightning Lane is <keyword data-keyword-id="12887">Disney</keyword> latest, but not greatest, skip the line service. It allows guests to reserve return times when they can walk on attractions with little to no wait.

Guests can pre-book Lightning Lane reservations up to 3 days in advance, or 7 days in advance if staying at a Disney Resort.

Once you’ve booked your first set of rides for the day, you’ll use <keyword data-keyword-id="12888">Disney</keyword>’s app to add new reservations as you finish each attraction.

For a detailed look at how Lightning Lane works across all parks, check out our complete Lightning Lane Guide.

Which Attractions are Included in Lightning Lane?

At Hollywood Studios, attractions are divided into two tiers: Tier 1 and Tier 2. When pre-booking your Lightning Lane reservations you’re allowed one Tier 1 ride and two Tier 2 rides.

Tier 1 Attractions

These are Hollywood Studios’ headline rides that see the highest demand. Guests can only select one during the initial booking:

Slinky Dog Dash

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

Tier 2 Attractions

These are still popular, but demand tends to be a bit lower:

Toy Story Mania!

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

Alien Swirling Saucers

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

Star Tours

MuppetVision 3D

Frozen Forever After Singalong

Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular

Which Lightning Lanes Sell Out First at Hollywood Studios?

It’s no secret that not all rides are created equal when it comes to Lightning Lane demand. Here’s a quick breakdown of the rides that typically sell out the fastest at Hollywood Studios so you can plan accordingly:

Slinky Dog Dash: This attraction usually sells out first and consistently has high wait times, so it’s worth considering as your pre-booked Tier 1 choice.

Toy Story Mania!: While it’s a Tier 2 ride, Toy Story Mania! often has hefty waits and is popular with all age groups.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway: With its newer status and charming storyline, this ride stays popular throughout the day.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster: Adrenaline lovers flock to this high-speed coaster, especially on busy days, so be prepared to book early.

Our Hollywood Studios Lightning Lane Strategy

To make the most of your Lightning Lane reservations, it helps to have a game plan. Here’s a sample strategy that balances efficiency with flexibility, helping you experience the headliner attractions without being tied to a rigid schedule.

Pre-Book Your First 3 Attractions

Start by securing your first set of reservations. We recommend booking Slinky Dog Dash as your Tier 1 selection, paired with two Tier 2 attractions with the earliest return times you can find.

Alien Swirling Saucers and Star Tours are good options for the Tier 2 slots if you’re aiming to keep things early and turn over those reservations quickly.

Arrive Early to Turn and Burn

Arriving at Hollywood Studios at or before park opening gives you a leg up. This allows you to use your first reservation quickly, freeing up a slot to book another high-priority ride. Once you’ve completed two of your reservations, try booking another Tier 1 attraction.

The goal here is to cycle through your Lightning Lane options early in the day for maximum flexibility as you move from one end of the park to the other.

Keep One Slot Active

After turning and burning your first few reservations, try to keep just one reservation booked at a time, with a return time within the next 30-60 minutes. This “active” slot strategy lets you use your reservations as you go, without being locked into lengthy waits. It’s especially helpful when you’re in high-traffic areas of the park where standby lines can get lengthy.

Modify, Modify, Modify

A key trick to Lightning Lane success is modifying your reservations. <keyword data-keyword-id="12889">Disney</keyword>’s system frequently updates availability as guests change their plans or cancel bookings. If you have a return time that’s later than you’d like, keep checking for an earlier option by modifying the time. This flexibility can make a big difference in how many rides you experience!

Is Lightning Lane Worth It at Hollywood Studios?

It all depends on your goals for the day. Here are a few factors to consider:

Wait Time Reduction: With Lightning Lane, you can generally expect to wait 20 minutes or less for most attractions. Without it, popular rides can easily exceed an hour or two in line.

Access to High-Demand Rides: Hollywood Studios is packed with headliner attractions, and Lightning Lane helps you experience more of them without sacrificing your day to standby lines.

Ideal for Families: If you’re traveling with younger kids, Lightning Lane can help you avoid the long waits that are especially challenging for little ones. Consider sticking to the Toy Story Land attractions and shows for a balanced day.

Ultimately, Lightning Lane can be a worthwhile investment if your goal is to fit as much as possible into your Hollywood Studios visit.

FAQ’s

And it’s causing some havoc for those trying to grab these super popular selections. The new paid service rolled out on July 24th with one major change from Genie+.

Prebooking up to (3) Lightning Lanes up to 7 days before your vacation arrival date. That is, for guests staying on property at one of <keyword data-keyword-id="6287">Disney</keyword>‘s hotels, Shades of Green, or the Swan and Dolphin collection. In fact, if that’s you, you can pre-book Lightning Lanes for your entire vacation (up to 14 days) a full week before your arrival date.

Effectively, these hotel guests can book up to 21 days in advance. No body else is able to pre-book until 3 days before the date of their visit. Like we needed another reason to stay on property at <keyword data-keyword-id="6288">Disney</keyword> World.

Well we’ve been absolutely stalking Lightning Lane availability ever since it began last week and this is by far the most difficult one to secure.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Disney World’s newest attraction is undeniably popular! And the only way to ride is with the Multi-pass or a Virtual Queue. Guests are flocking to the resort specifically to experience this ride and the inclusivity it brings to the parks.

Which means it’s nearly impossible to get. In fact, Lightning Lane return times for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure have been sold out days in advance ever since July 24th.

We just did our first pre-booking for an upcoming trip and there was absolutely no available return times. Even on the last day of the trip, which was a full 11 days away Tiana’s Bayou Adventure was completely sold out.

Come along as we test this newest service by following us on YouTube.

Top Tips to Secure

But there’s no need to worry, even if Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is at the top of your to-do list. You just might be able to snag this elusive Lightning Lane using our tips and tricks – and a bit of luck.

Stay on Property

Look, I’m not going to sugar coat this. The chances of Riding Tiana’s Bayou Adventure drop dramatically if you’re not staying at a participating resort. There are so many hotels at <keyword data-keyword-id="6313">Disney</keyword> World, and some, like All Star Sports, can be booked for around $100 a night!

This gives you a 4+ day advantage over the general public, which could give you the edge you need. Especially if you’re visiting during a slower time of year. If you’re able to sneak it into your budget, this splurge will get you much closer to the Bayou.

Book Late

In your trip, that is. Make Magic Kingdom the last park that you visit, giving you even more of a head start on those Lightning Lane reservations. And the longer your trip, the better. Not just because it’s extra time at <keyword data-keyword-id="6314">Disney</keyword>, but because you’ll get access to pre-book those last days before many other folks.

Don’t Give Up!

People’s plans change. Keep checking in the app in the days leading up to your visit for new availability. Even on the day of your visit, keep an eye out for Lightning Lane return times in the My <keyword data-keyword-id="6315">Disney</keyword> Experience app. It’s pretty common for guests to get stuck in a line, or stay longer than expected at lunch and need to adjust their return time or even cancel.

The post Good Luck Grabbing THIS Lighting Lane at Disney World appeared first on .

Disney World’s brand new skip the line service, Lightning Lane, just launched and we finally have the answer to the biggest question of all. Can you use Lightning Lane Multipass for Park-hopping?

Yes! If you’re planning to visit multiple parks in a day, purchasing the Multi-Pass gets you access to Lightning Lanes across the <keyword data-keyword-id="6378">Disney</keyword> World Resort. However, it may not work the way you think.

Disney’s Lightning Lane Multipass can be purchased up to 7 days before your arrival date, if staying at a <keyword data-keyword-id="6379">Disney</keyword> World Hotel. At that same time you’ll be able to pre-book up to 3 Lightning Lane return times for any single park of your choice. On the day of your park visit, after using your first Lightning Lane you’ll be able to book another at any park you want. Provided you have a multi-park ticket or annual pass.

So, while you can use Multipass across multiple <keyword data-keyword-id="6380">Disney</keyword> World parks you can only prebook at one park. And with some of the most popular attractions selling out weeks in advance, it’s a bit risky to count on securing same-day return windows while park hopping.

We do love the flexibility of being able to hop around the <keyword data-keyword-id="6381">Disney</keyword> World resort and still using a single Multi-pass all day. And it could be a game changer for certain itineraries. The best scenario is if you’re spending a day bouncing between Hollywood Studios and Epcot. These two are so close that you can walk back and forth.

Starting the day rope dropping Animal Kingdom, prebooking those top (3) attractions, then stacking Magic Kingdom windows for later – is another good idea. While you probably won’t be able to snag Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, there are plenty of rides at Magic Kingdom with long lines. And relatively few at Animal Kingdom.

Are you planning to park hop with the Lightning Lane Multipass?

The post Yes, You Can Park Hop with the Multi-pass!

A lot has changed since the year-that-shall-not be named, even at <keyword data-keyword-id="1245">Disney</keyword>. There’s certainly been quite a bit of news recently, but it’s the new <keyword data-keyword-id="1246">Disney</keyword> Genie system and Lightning Lanes that have got our attention.

BREAKING NEWS: Genie+ at Disney World is GONE! We're working diligently to update existing guides in preparation for <keyword data-keyword-id="3930">Disney</keyword> World's newest Skip the Lien Service. Check out Everything You Need to Know About Lightening Lanes at Disney World

Disney’s rollout of this new offering was, well – not great. But we’ve done some digging and put the pieces together. Here’s everything you need to know about <keyword data-keyword-id="1247">Disney</keyword> Genie, Genie+, and Lightning Lanes.

Disney Genie

Let’s start with the free services, everybody likes free. <keyword data-keyword-id="1248">Disney</keyword> Genie is a new feature inside of the MyDisney Experience and Disneyland apps that provides tips and recommendations throughout your day at the parks.

What is <keyword data-keyword-id="1249">Disney</keyword> Genie?

Disney Genie is a major upgrade to the apps. Previously the apps allowed you to view current attraction wait times, place mobile orders, and book Fastpass reservations if using Fastpass+ (WDW) or Maxpass (DLR).

Now not only can you view current wait times (for attractions AND restaurants), but you can also see forecasted wait times throughout the day. Instead of waiting all day for the Peter Pan line to go down and getting stuck waiting at the end of the day, you’ll be able to see if the wait is ever going down and decide what time of day you’re willing to stand in line for an hour.

At the beginning of your day <keyword data-keyword-id="1250">Disney</keyword> Genie will ask you about your interests and what your must-do attractions are. The service then uses that information, along with current attraction waits and your location in the parks, to generate suggestions for what to do next.

Our Thoughts on <keyword data-keyword-id="1251">Disney</keyword> Genie

Honestly, this is a great service especially for free. Guests have been complaining about the inconvenience of booking Fastpass+ (WDW) months ahead of their vacation for a long time. It’s understandable, who really knows what time of day they want to ride Space Mountain that far out? Most people are still figuring out what to pack.

For me planning a <keyword data-keyword-id="1252">Disney</keyword> trip is at least as fun as the trip itself, but not for most people. The average guest doesn’t want to spend hours of research to learn the park attractions, and then more research to strategize a way to ride everything.

Disney Genie makes the parks much more accessible to this type of guest, and provides a ton of value in that respect.

Are the recommendations perfect, no. You likely won’t ride all of the E-ticket attractions and you will wait in some lines. But you could follow the tips Genie provides and have a great day.

Should You Listen to <keyword data-keyword-id="1253">Disney</keyword> Genie?

Disney Genie’s recommendations are hit or miss. The recommendations are 30-40% accurate to the strategies most frequent guests are used to using. However, the system has the potential to act as a crow control regulator, sending groups to quieter areas and smaller attractions most would skip.

And that’s a good thing, you get to visit things you might have otherwise skipped!

I think that overtime <keyword data-keyword-id="1254">Disney</keyword> Genie will become more intune with what guests are looking for, and constantly improve crowd control.

Disney Genie is a good tool to check while you’re in the park, but I wouldn’t follow it to the letter.

Genie+

If you’ve been to the parks in the last decade you’re probably familiar with some iteration of Fastpass; whether it was Paper FP, Fastpass+, or Maxpass. <keyword data-keyword-id="1255">Disney</keyword>’s line skipping service has gone by quite a few names, and Genie+ is the latest.

There’s a few changes with Genie+, but the biggest is the price. Gone are the days of free Fastpasses and (for <keyword data-keyword-id="1256">Disney</keyword> World) being able to secure 3 per day before setting foot in the park.

Genie+ costs $20 per person per day at <keyword data-keyword-id="1257">Disney</keyword> World, and $15 per person per day at Disneyland.

Here’s How Genie+ Works

Genie+ is a rebranding of the Fastpass experience, as part of this rebranding the Fastpass Entrance or Fastpass Lane is now referred to as the Lightning Lane.

Genie+, like <keyword data-keyword-id="1258">Disney</keyword> Genie, has been added to MyDisneyExperience (WDW) and the Disneyland(DLR) apps. Inside the app you can now book Lightning Lane reservations throughout the day.

Guests staying at a <keyword data-keyword-id="1259">Disney</keyword> World resort can make their first reservation at 7:00am, non-resort guests of <keyword data-keyword-id="1260">Disney</keyword> World at 9:00am. Similar to the paper Fastpass system, you are only able to book one attraction at a time. However, if the return window for the ride you’ve selected is more than two hours away you’ll be able to book a second reservation in two hours.

As an example; A guest is able to make their first reservation at 9:00am for Splash Mountain at 11:30am, that guest will be able to make another reservation after 11:00am.

When making a Lightning Lane selection you will not be able to choose the return window. Each attraction has a set number of reservations available per one hour window, once the first window is ‘sold out’ the next hour will become available, and so forth.

If you are park hopping, Genie+ will work across parks at no additional charge.

Genie+ Rides at Each Park

Hopefully this all hasn’t gotten too confusing yet, because there’s more.

With the purchase of Genie+ you will be able to reserve Lightning Lane return times for quite a few attractions, but not all of them. Here’s the list of what’s available at each park.

Our Thoughts on Genie+

Paid Fastpass has been a long time coming. Many competitors have offered a similar service with a much higher price tag for years. At Universal Studios, for example, a single day Express Pay can cost over $100.

After the introduction of MaxPass at Disneyland in 2017, this was inevitable. But parts of Genie+ are pretty offputting. Part of the reason MaxPass was accepted, though never well received, was because it offered a premium tier of service. Guests could still use the paper Fastpass system at Disneyland. You didn’t have to purchase MaxPass, but it gave you the advantage of book a Fastpass from your phone instead of racing across the parks.

The value of MaxPass was the convenience and exclusivity, you saved time booking and could even do so while in another queue. Genie+ takes the foundation of MaxPass but removes the exclusivity.

With the new Genie+ system, guests have to purchase in order to make a Lightning Lane (or Fastpass) reservation. The price will be a deterrent for some, especially large groups, but not for everyone.

Individual Attraction Purchases

If you noticed the attraction lists for Genie+ were missing a few of your favorite rides: not to fear, Lightning Lane reservations are available for these….at a price.

Alongside <keyword data-keyword-id="1261">Disney</keyword>’s announcements of Genie and Genie+ came the news that the Lightning Lane for certain attractions (up to two per park) are available only by individual purchase. The price for each attraction varies by time of year, time of day, and crowd index but ranges between $7 and $15 per person so far.

Each guest is able to purchase up to two Individual Attraction reservations per day and purchase of these premium selections does not impact a guest’s ability to hold a Genie+ reservation.

However, once purchased premium selections cannot be rebooked or canceled. If the attraction is down during your reservation window, you will be automatically refunded. Just like Genie+ though, you’re not able to choose your return time. Reservation windows are available to book as the previous window fills up.

Premium Rides at Each Park

Here are the rides you’ll have to purchase an individual Lightning Lane pass for.

Disneyland

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Disney’s California Adventure

Webslingers

Radiator Racers

Magic Kingdom

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Space Mountain

EPCOT

Frozen Ever After

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

Hollywood Studios

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Animal Kingdom

Avatar Flight of Passage

Expedition Everest

Our Thoughts on Individual Attraction Purchases

Individual Attraction Purchases feels like a cash grab. I could understand if these purchases went above and beyond the Genie+ service, if they let you immediately walk on. As it is though, having to buy access to an individual attraction sounds a lot like the ride ticketing Disneyland had at park open.

And listen, I’m not one to say I told you so. But I’ll just leave this here, if you’re interested.

With so many of the parks having been closed for so long these past few years, it’s not surprising that <keyword data-keyword-id="1262">Disney</keyword> is looking for ways to save costs and increase revenue. There has been so much construction and now incoming cash flow to balance it out. This just feels excessive though.

Should You Buy Genie+ and Individual Attraction Reservations?

Maybe.

There’s quite a few details to consider as well as your personal vacation and <keyword data-keyword-id="1263">Disney</keyword> style. Let’s take a look at each offering.

Should You Pay for Individual Lightning Lane Reservations

Most, if not all, of the premium attractions are walk-ons if you can make rope drop at the parks. Using Genie+ the amount of time you’ll spend in line for non-premium rides will be less, which would allow you to withstand some of these insane lines.

If one of the premium rides is on your must-do list and will make or break your trip – absolutely go for it. But otherwise, I wouldn’t.

Watch the <keyword data-keyword-id="1264">Disney</keyword> Genie tip board throughout the day to see how far out Individual Attraction reservations are booking. If the available window stays within an hour or two of the time you are checking, the standby line should go pretty quickly. However, if you look at 9:00am and the available window isn’t until the afternoon – buy it.

Should You Pay for Genie+

If it’s in your budget, yes.

The cost of Genie+ is not enough to deter the majority of guests, and the more people who use Genie+ the longer the standby lines will be. Based on observation, cast members have been trained to allow 7-10 Lightning Lane guests through the merge point for every 1 standby guest.

This ratio is problematic for anyone not willing, or able, to pay for Genie+. While you won’t need the Lightning Lanes for all of the available attractions, it will save you a ton of time and allow you to do more.

TL:DR

Disney Genie is an awesome new product available to all park guests that helps, so called, casual park goers navigate an overwhelming large vacation destination.

Genie+ and, even moreso, Individual Attraction Purchases are yet another sign of the times. For years <keyword data-keyword-id="1265">Disney</keyword>’s services and offerings have declined while prices and surcharges have gone up. A family of four would need to pay an additional $60 – $180 per day for these new products.

There was a time, before Fastpass, when we all stood in line. We’d bring cards, and snacks, play patty-cake, and just talk to each other. Most of us spend more than an hour on social media each day. Fastpass felt like gamifying <keyword data-keyword-id="1266">Disney</keyword>, and it’s fun but, it wasn’t necessary.
